Cooperstown Borough October 6, 2025, Meeting Minutes

Jerry Ritchey opened with prayer. The meeting was called to order by Council President Brenda Schwab and opened with The Pledge of Allegiance.

In attendance were Mike Meyer, George Shoemaker, Mary Shoemaker, and Amanda Barker

Guest Speaker – Amanda had handouts from ORLA and voiced her focus on the referendum in November. She stated there is misinformation about the library tax. Council questioned if the library tax would come from taxes already paid or would it cause a rise in tax. The tax shows a raise to $12.50 per assessed value of $50,000. Those in attendance voiced concerns about where money would go, other than our Cooperstown Library. There is no guarantee that the tax will not go up in the future. The community is urged to attend the informational open house on October 22nd at 6pm @ the Cooperstown library. It will be a time for questions and concerns.
