Cooperstown Borough March 2, 2026, Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order with The Pledge of Allegiance and Jerry Ritchey opened with prayer

In attendance were Mike Meyer, Charles Huegel, and Mike Bordell

New Business discussed:

  • The library sales agreement from Mike Bordell was presented and discussed. Council voted to move forward with the sale and agreement will be completed by Brenda – Barb made motion and 2nd by John.
  • Regina could not attend but sent an email stating that she began drafting notices for violations to present to the board. A full report is being prepared, with intent to submit to Borough Council for Council’s opinion as to whether the dangerous structure can be repaired or if it should be demolished, in accordance with Section 5 Investigation Procedure of the Dangerous Structures Ordinance.
  • DGLVR grant project will include an upcoming meeting with Hilary and the DEP to determine the project specs

Old Business discussed:

  • issues with hillside – waiting on weather
  • Sewage complaint- waiting on weather
  • Ditching and catch basins- pushed due to weather
  • Charles Huegel – presented his plan to have rabbits contained and to compost manure. He has a larger lot and is outside of development. The council discussed request for the rabbits and approved. The council will further discuss request for ducks and look into the specifics, such as acreage/lot size, containment and distance from buildings.

  • Emergency Management
  • Streets – borough will join COG in the seal coating joint bid. Discussion of advertising specifics and price list of available papers to run ads. Streets will begin being swept

  • Christmas Island

Other Public Comment – Council will plan a work session to clean up around the building for Spring Clean- up.

To clarify a letter from Aqua about replacement of water pipes – Aqua is not replacing all pipes. If a resident has lead or galvanized pipes “from the meter to the house”, Aqua will come out and verify before any repair.
