Cooperstown Borough February 2, 2026, Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order with The Pledge of Allegiance and Jerry Ritchey opened with prayer
In attendance were Mike Meyer, Shayne Long, Charles Huegel, and Justine Cashdollar
Guest Speaker- Charles was in attendance to make a request to council to retain ducks and rabbits on his property. Rabbits would be contained and ducks would be fenced with wings clipped, if necessary. The council stated that they would have a decision for him at the next meeting.
John and Barb were sworn in by Mayor Jeffrey Meyer
Minutes were read – approved by Barb and Jerry
Bills approved by Bonnie and John
New Business discussed: The library appraisal and sale information from Mike Bordell was presented and discussed. Council voted to move forward with the sale – John made motion and 2nd by Barb. A temporary lockbox will be placed to aid in the showing of the building. Council decided to schedule an executive session to decide stipulations for the sale. John made motion and Bonnie 2nd. Barr’s insurance will be contacted to have coverage for the library until sold. John discussed a complaint that was received about burning trash in the borough. A letter and copy of the ordinance will be mailed to the resident. Quotes for the vinyl lettering on the door were presented and council voted on the bid from Kaitlyn Eltz – motioned by Bonnie and 2nd by Barb.
Old Business discussed:
- issues with hillside – waiting on weather
- Code enforcer – Regina is starting the process
- Sewage complaint- waiting on weather
- Ditching and catch basins- pushed due to weather
Committee Report updates:
- Emergency Management
- Streets – Council is applying for a grant for the berming project and for street repairs on Maple Lane
- Equipment – John Deere is getting a coil repair
- Parks and Recreation
- Fire Department – Raffle February 21st
- Sewage and Drainage
- Pioneer Cemetery
- Christmas Island– attempt to move the trailer off on Saturday the 7th
Other Public Comment – Justine had a tentative date for the Fishing Derby – Friday May 1st and asked the borough to put up road signs and close streets for safety.
Adjournment was called at 7:51 pm and approved by John and Barb
