Cooperstown Borough January 5, 2026, Meeting Minutes

The reorganizational meeting was called to order by Mayor Jeff Meyer, opened with The Pledge of Allegiance, and Jerry Ritchey opened with prayer.

In attendance were Mike Meyer, Shayne Long, and Mark Fultz

Guest Speaker- Mark Fultz was inquiring about the status of library and had interesting history since the Tabernacle church started there in 1941. The church sold to library association in May 1989.

Nomination and Election of Officers – After discussion of Brenda and John in the roles of President and Vice President, Barb made motion for Brenda as President, Bonnie seconded – All in favor – Barb made motion for John as Vice President, Jerry seconded – All in favor.

Retain the following:
~Secretary/Treasurer- Marcy Shorts – motion made by John, seconded by Barb – All in favor
~Solicitor – Bruce Getsinger – motion made by John, seconded by Bonnie – All in favor
~Auditor – May & Company – motion made by John, seconded by Brenda – All in favor
~CCI – Mike Grill – motion made by John, seconded by Brenda – All in favor
~Oil Region Joint Sewage Agency – motion made by John, seconded by Barb – All in favor
~Code Enforcer – Regina Deloe – motion made by Brenda, seconded by Jerry – All in favor

Upcoming year scheduled events;
~Spring Clean-up May 8 th
~Car Cruise June 21 st (to be confirmed)
~Fall Clean-up October 2 nd
~Island Light up Night December 12 th (to be confirmed)
~Breakfast with Grinch December 12 th (to be confirmed)

Old Business discussed:
~issues with hillside – waiting on weather
~Council voting a code enforcer – violation driven and $45/hour – Barb made motion and Bonnie seconded
~Sewage complaint waiting on weather
~Ditching and catch basins pushed due to weather
~Library – Monday 12 th – council will transfer items to borough building – building to be assessed by realtor

Committee Report updates: no library committee – Brenda step down from Christmas Island but still assist
~Emergency Management – Gary Knox confirmed

~Fire Department – Raffle February 21st
~Sewage and Drainage
~Pioneer Cemetery
~Christmas Island- teardown January 10 th at 9am

Other Public Comment – Shayne discussed contacting him if borough has any plowing issues, he can assist at no cost`
