Cooperstown Borough December 1, 2025, Meeting Minutes

Jerry Ritchey opened with prayer. The meeting was called to order by Council President Brenda Schwab and opened with The Pledge of Allegiance.

In attendance was Mike Meyer

Guest Speaker- none

Minutes were read and approved by John and Jerry

Bills approved by Bonnie and Jerry –with exception of hold on check to Library Association – John made motion and Barb seconded

Budget was presented- Council approved and voted all in favor and will be remitted to advertise in paper

Old Business discussed:
~issues with hillside – Ken w/ Jackson Twp is working with Hillary – this is ongoing – suggestions of diverting as far up as the cemetery – John had a grate made to catch rocks, branches, and debris to assist with hillside, Mike and Bentley installed – it’s heavy duty and seems to be effective
~Council is still seeking a new code enforcer – Bob Jamison is too busy and has not followed up – John made motion to contact Regina and Barb seconded
~ Sewage complaint – follow up on formal complaint made in November
~Ditching and catch basins pushed due to weather – can complete if a warmer week is expected

Committee Report updates:
~Emergency Management – John will contact Gary Knox to confirm he is still involved in coming year
~Library – borough has historical info stored at library and need to collect at some point – organize work session to gather and remove – Barb will contact Amanda – Public announcement for library closing is posted on website
~Streets – some street signs have damage from wind – borough will repair in spring
~Equipment – backhoe needs greased – find shields for mower deck
~Parks and Recreation – repairs and power washing to be completed in spring
~Fire Department – Auction is December 7 th at 1pm
~Sewage and Drainage
~Pioneer Cemetery
~Christmas Island – residents can decorate buggy and join in light up parade – Santa and baked goods to follow at firehall
