Cooperstown Borough July 7, 2025, Meeting Minutes

Jerry Ritchey opened with prayer. The meeting was called to order by Council President Brenda Schwab and opened with The Pledge of Allegiance.

In attendance were Wally Fox, Rick Armburger, Jayden Hulings, Amanda Barker, and Jim Heasley

Guest Speaker – Wally Fox spoke about the success of the Car Cruise. They had a record attendance of 200 cars and went through the 175 t-shirts. He expressed a thank you for the community’s support and asked the council if planning could start for next year. The council agreed.

Bills approved by Bonnie and Jerry

Council voted and agreed to release Alumni Park money to go toward another sign purchase for entering Cooperstown.

Finn has been mowing the creek banks.

Ditching –in contact with the county for project grant money

Tar and chip starting July 8th – trees need trimmed at firehall, library, and Barger’s stop signs.

Library tree needs to be removed – Amanda approved.

Committee Report updates:

  • Emergency Management
  • Library – Amanda is collecting signatures on a petition to receive state money – the state will match the amount – it will result in a small raise in tax.
  • Streets – driveway seal company is leaving a mess on the roads that could be a hazard.
  • Equipment – weed eater shield.
  • Parks and Recreation- Rick is mowing the best he can by the pond – it is very wet, and he created a trench to divert water issue caused by the water company.
  • Fire Department- August raffle.
  • Sewage and Drainage- possibility that firehall can blow out pipes to clean.
  • Pioneer Cemetery
  • Christmas Island – light pole is ready to go in – just need a group to assist.

Public Comment – Jim Heasley gave an update on the borough audit and stated that the library tax works, and he hopes it passes.

Adjournment was called at 7:52 pm and approved by Barb and Bonnie

Borough Secretary
